Sky River Sanctuary
Tul’ix Indigenous Arts is delighted to share her physical home in Aotearoa/New Zealand at Sky River Sanctuary in the Coromandel.
This sacred place is born of legacy, love and lineage.
Named for the Rivers in the Sky that appear again and again in all our healing lineages, and bring with them hope that the fever of the world may one day subside, this is a site where many of us have learned, taught, laughed, cried, danced and been fundamentally changed by the air, light, Sun, Sky, Ocean and Heart of this place.
Right off of the wild coastline of the Pacific Ocean at Opoutere Beach, this ceremonial home was formerly the Ashram Yoga Ohui Retreat Center. Before taking custodianship of this space in 2021, both Samar and Steve were long time students of the late Shantimuri Saraswati who began using this property for healing. We continue his prayers and offerings to this place while bringing in the medicines of their own Benevolent Ancestors and the healing lineages to which.
We honor also the secret and sacred Māori history of this land, and stand in respect to the first peoples who lit their fires and told their stories here. We hold in great love the Benevolent non-human communities who have been here before our species arrived and the important work they continue to do.
Our space is intimate. Our Yoga House and Gathering House hold a maximum of ten students and one guest facilitator. We never compromise on these numbers and are very curated about what happens here and allowing the space to rest between offerings. Our delicious food is largely plant-based and always gluten free to make it soft on the body and delightful for the soul.
The magic of this space is in its sweetness. Spend hours getting lost on one of the last truly wild beaches in the world or the nearby Pine forests, sit by the fire, soak in the outer bath while looking at the stars or snuggle in any number of cosy corners with cacao and a friend.
Sky River is remote, with limited wifi and no cell signal. The dark skies and expansive sunrises awaken parts of us needed to call back the Soul of the World. It is a place of supreme dreaming.
All Tul’ix Indigenous Arts bodywork trainings happen at Sky River yearly (sometimes more than once) as well as Qoya Teacher Trainings with Samar and other weekend or longer retreats. We are also open to supporting resonant containers in our space.
Email office@arvigotherapy.com to enquire about attending a training/retreat or hosting your own.
